We leave for our annual pilgrimage for autumn migration in Morocco on the 16th September and if you would like to join us, then we have ONE place left! It is a great tour and among the many highlights we will visit one of the largest colonies in the world for Eleonora’s Falcon Falco eleonorae and travel through the coastal area of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Scenically the area is stunning and from here we journey southwards to our desert camp on the Atlantic coast. Of course important sites such as the nature reserve at Oued Massa are explored and local birds are guaranteed. Why not join us?

Our Kenya tour begins! It’s August and it sees the beginning of our tour to Kenya. It is a fantastic destination with around 1,089 species of bird; of course the tour has been scheduled at this time of year to coincide with the spectacular animal migration in the Masai Mara National Reserve. The wildlife in Kenya has to rate among the very best and the range of habitats help to make Kenya one of the natural wonders of the world. Our tour will see such an incredible variety of birds, from the largest in the world the Ostrich to the wonder of thousands of Lesser Flamingo painting the landscape pink. Why not join our tour in 2010?

Our guide Brenda Jones gives an account of late June in our mountains. June in the Serranía de Ronda can be a month of contrasts. The landscape underwent its normal changes in colour going from vibrant greens, interspersed with dazzling patchworks of multi coloured flowering plants, to dry and crisp hues of browns and beige. Harvest of the cereal crops was well underway and a hush had descended upon the normally vociferous male birds of our mountains. Standing water attracts insect and bird to quench a thirst induced by warmer days. It is a time of year when you can feel the urgency in nature to procreate and take full advantage during a time of plenty….

Busman’s Holiday? Two of our tour guides, both based in Spain, take timeout during a quiet time in an otherwise hectic schedule. So what do Mick Richardson and Peter Jones get up to when they get a moment to themselves? They go off together, accompanied by their wives, on a mission to see how many butterfly species they can find and spend a day in the higher mountain regions of the Serranía de Ronda! Mick gives an account of their day in this report and also Peter gives us a brief glimpse into his ringing/banding experiences. Here Peter shares a tale of his most recent trip to Fuente de Piedra ringing/banding Greater Flamingo Pheonicopterus roseus……
